Ann Romney is a woman that I would feel honored to have in the White House, serving as our First Lady! It might even be okay if she brings along her husband Mitt Romney. I'm a believer in the old saying that "behind every good man is a better woman" and I'm pretty sure in the case of Mitt, truer words could not be spoken. What makes this even better is that Mitt has this figured out and is really good at utilizing what some refer to as his "secret weapon". So if Mitt can hold on to a gal like Ann, that alone might be reason enough to vote Mitt Romney for President!
I'll confess that I'm willing to take a closer look at Mitt Romney because of Ann Romney. More than Mitt's Mormonism I'm impressed with his eternal companion. I like to watch Ann introduce Mitt, more than I like hearing from him. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Mitt Romney, I just happen to really like Ann Romney. You do have to agree -- they are a very good looking couple.
In my book, she's a great example of womanhood. An example that more women need to see, hear from, and emulate. I seriously doubt that Ann Romney is the type of woman who cares about the tone of her arms. And as much as I'm sure she is concerned about her family's nutrition I suspect she's more concerned with their character. I'm pretty sure that if Ann Romney were our First Lady she would bring FAMILY back into vogue!
When I think of Ann Romney I can't help but think of these words from Spencer W. Kimball, back in 1979, on The Role of Righteous Women:
"May I suggest to you something that has not been said before or at least in quite this way. Much of the major growth that is coming to the Church in the last days will come because many of the good women of the world (in whom there is often such an inner sense of spirituality) will be drawn to the Church in large numbers. This will happen to the degree that the women of the Church reflect righteousness and articulateness in their lives and to the degree that the women of the Church are seen as distinct and different—in happy ways—from the women of the world.
Among the real heroines in the world who will come into the Church are women who are more concerned with being righteous than with being selfish. These real heroines have true humility, which places a higher value on integrity than on visibility. Remember, it is as wrong to do things just to be seen of women as it is to do things to be seen of men. Great women and men are always more anxious to serve than to have dominion.
Thus it will be that female exemplars of the Church will be a significant force in both the numerical and the spiritual growth of the Church in the last days."
Things I appreciate about Ann Romney:
- I love her loyalty.
- I love her integrity.
- I appreciate her wit and charm.
- I love her devotion to her family.
- I love her faith.
- I love her perseverance.

DeleteI'm sure Ann is a wonderful lady and would do great. I do however take offense to your veiled suggestions that Michelle Obama is self centered (toned arms) and more concerned about nutrition than character. We don't have to tear one woman down to build the other up. And say what you will about the Obamas but their love of each other and their children is exemplary.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we agree on at least one thing. My apologies if I offended you. My point was simply to suggest that Ann Romney is a woman, I believe, who has her priorities well developed. From an LDS perspective, character traits rate higher than good nutrition habits and/or personal training.

ReplyDeleteI'm quite certain that Michelle Obama stands for much more than good nutrition. The truth is, Barack, Michelle, Shasha and Malia have been one of the most well put together families the White House has ever seen! Even with an LDS perspective, an emphasis on health and nutrition is definitely a priority (please see Word of Wisdom). It's clear that she and Mr. Obama value family and have not at all contributed to the family falling out of vogue.

DeleteMichelle Obama is not the reason that Barack, her metrosexual, utopian socialist husband is a train wreck as a president. I'm sure that her shrewish attitude makes it more difficult for him to sit in the White House and may be one of the reasons he's always headed out on vacation. (I don't mind offending "Anonymous" because I'm neither well behaved nor do I believe in sugar coating it)
ReplyDeleteMitt Romney is not my ideal candidate for President, but when you look at the field, he is just about our only hope because the rest are so much worse. Ann Romney completes his team in much the way that Laura Bush did to her husband, George.
Let Michelle, Ann and any other first lady, for that matter, stand on their own in the harsh spotlight of public life and the chips will fall where they may.
And may I say that I LIKE where the "chips" are falling, where Ann Romney is concerned. ; )
