Well, that when, is today!

In being invited to participate in this wonderful event to celebrate The Family: A Proclamation to the World – and given the ability to choose my topic from a breakdown of the proclamation, for me, this was a no brainer. From the very day when I sat in that historic general Relief Society meeting, (broadcast) and heard President Gordon B. Hinckley first present and read that inspired document to the women of the Mormon Church, these are the specific words that resonated in the heart of this Well-Behaved Mormon Woman -- and continue to do so every time I read it:
“The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity.”
As a child of divorce, and now an adult, coming to understand the eternal doctrine that I had a literal birthright to have both a mother and a father, in my life, was a profound confirmation of a truth that gripped my soul at its very core! And not just for me, but every child, ever born on this planet -- is entitled to such an arrangement.

Kathryn, I'm pretty sure there are only a few women who read my blog in our ward too. Last Sunday in our RS good news minute I said there was a blog event going on to celebrate the Family Proclamation. The RS counselor who was conducting said, "Oh yes, my sister from Idaho called me up to tell me to check out The Redheaded Hostess as she was hosting a celebration. So everyone check out The Redheaded Hostess to read all the posts!"
ReplyDeleteOur RS president looked at her funny and said, "Didn't you know that Sister W is hosting it on her blog too?"
The RS counselor replied, "She has a blog?"
It was so funny!

ReplyDeleteThat is rather odd, isn't it? But you're probably like me, I don't try to keep my blog a secret, but I admit, I don't promote it either -- outside of the online community. For some reason I'm kind of 'bashful' about it. I've never liked drawing attention to myself. So, I just do what I do and move along. Oh well, it seems to be working for us, in our little worlds. ; )
BTW, I'm loving the celebration on the family! What amazing posts you gals have brought together. Really great job! And again, thank you for the invite to participate. I've been doing my own thing here on WBMW for so long, that it's been really fun to branch out and meet other faithful members of the Church doing the same thing. It's a wonderful community of people working together to strengthen one another and build the kingdom, online!

In answer to your question.... I DO!.. now. We've only been in this ward for a couple months, so it was only a matter of time before I was going to put it together. It was funny to read your guest post and then recognize the picture of the host blogger. :)
