You ARE What You SHARE, Online!

You may not realize this, but YOU ARE WHAT YOU SHARE, online! What you choose to SHARE with others, through the use of Social Media, tells the story of YOU! When you send out a "MESSAGE", be it through Facebook, Twitter, Blogging, Email, etc -- you are essentially saying, "Hey Everybody -- THIS is ME!" You are telling others what is IMPORTANT to you. Ultimately, you believe that they will ALSO find it important. If not, WHY would you SHARE it?
Social media is online content created by people using highly accessible and scalable publishing technologies. At its most basic sense, social media is a shift in how people discover, read and share news, information and content. It's a fusion of sociology and technology, transforming monologues (one to many) into dialogues (many to many) and is the democratization of information, transforming people from content readers into publishers. Social media has become extremely popular because it allows people to connect in the online world to form relationships for personal, political and business use..." Wikipedia

Social Networking
is about making connections. We CONNECT with those, online - who have similar VALUES AND INTERESTS. We refer to these "connections" as our FRIENDS.

Social Networking In Plain English

In reality, because of the ability to connect with those that we DO know and who REALLY are our friends -- through Social Networking -- we are then able to easily make further connections with others, whom can potentially become good connections, too... even "FRIENDS". The possibilities of finding those with similar interest, values and concern as yours, online - are ENDLESS!

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - understands the POWER of Social Networking, and Social Media - for SHARING THE GOSPEL, online. On LDSMediaTalk, Larry Richman helps the Church by keeping a nice list on his of  Official LDS Church Websites, so that we have excellent Social Media to share with our non-member friends. They have invited members of the Church, to help distribute this media. Each time that we share a video, or an article from an LDS website, a widget, etc... WE are helping to share the gospel online, with our growing Social Network.

The internet is flooded with Social Media, of ALL kinds. It's really very cool. What we choose to share with others on and through our Social Networks, tells others WHAT we think, value and has meaning in our lives. It is a REVELATION, and a record of WHO we ARE!

If we are fortunate enough to have a VOICE - that others are willing to listen to - then WHAT we do SHARE - ought to be ONLY those things which are of "good report".

  1. Hi, Kathryn. Your blog is very interesting. I plan to spend some more time here. I hope I am the kind of well-behaved woman who is not afraid to speak up!! ;)

Thanks for visiting my site. Feel free to share the Michael Jackson letter around with a little bit of credit. :) I've been listening to his music for the past few days and the letter really sums up how I feel about him.

Thanks again! I'll be back! (Insert dastardly laugh here)

  2. Hi Jamie Lynne -

I'm so glad you decided to pop over! I think you're doing a great job on your blog. Once you begin to "speak up" -- you'll be amazed at how easy it really is. I'm always amazed at how willing people are to listen, if we are genuine about what we do share.

As you know, I loved the MJ letter. Again, very creative.

    Hope to see you soon:-)
